Our Promoters & Investors

YES BANK is founded by Mr. Rana Kapoor and Late Mr. Ashok Kapur, who have a collective financial stake of 27.16%.

Mr. Rana Kapoor
is the Founder/Managing Director & CEO of YES BANK. As a professional entrepreneur, since 2003, he is progressively establishing a high quality, state-of-the-art private Indian Bank with a vision of "Building the Best Quality Bank of the world in India" by 2015.
 
 Under his leadership, YES BANK has steadily evolved as the "Professionals' Bank of India" with exemplary business and financial outcomes as evidenced in the financial results since inception, highest RoA/RoE, and the best asset quality amongst leading Public and Private Banks in India. YES BANK has adopted global best practices, the highest standards of service quality and operational excellence.
 
 In a span of 6 years, YES BANK has received significant national and global recognition and accolades including being ranked recently as India's No. 1 and the Fastest Growing Bank (balance sheet size< INR 24,000 crore), in the Business Today-KPMG Best Banks Annual Survey 2008 and 2009. YES BANK has been awarded the "Most Innovative Bank in India" at the New Economy First Annual Banking and Finance Awards 2008, held in London. YES BANK is the only Indian Bank to receive the prestigious Emerging Markets Sustainable Bank of the Year - Asia first award at the Financial Times/IFC Sustainable Banking Awards in London, 2008.
 
 YES BANK was also the only Indian Bank to be awarded the Financial Insights Innovation Award (FIIA) for the Most Innovative e-Payments Solution amongst 150 Asian Banks, in Singapore. Earlier, the Bank won the Euromoney Trade Finance Deal of the Year award for a structured & innovative Rural Financing solution, and has been included as a Founding Member of the select Community of Global Growth Companies (GGC) at the World Economic Forum (WEF), Geneva. YES BANK was awarded the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practice Award at the NASSCOM Foundation-BSE Social and Corporate Governance Awards 2007. Mr. Kapoor has recently been ranked as the 3rd Most Valuable Indian CEO of the Year by Business World magazine in November 2009. He has earlier received the Distinguished Entrepreneurship Award at the PHD Chamber Awards for Excellence 2007, and was earlier awarded the 'Start- up Entrepreneur of the Year 2005' at the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards by an eminent jury.
 
 Prior to establishing YES BANK, Mr. Kapoor was CEO & Managing Director, and main Managing Partner of Rabo India Finance (RIF) Pvt. Ltd., responsible for all its business activities (a corporate finance and investment banking organisation). He successfully spearheaded RIF as a foreign joint venture financial services organization in partnership with Rabobank (AAA rated) in India, and thereafter sold his shareholdings to Rabobank, Netherlands, in early 2003, after assiduously building RIF as a Professional Entrepreneur (1998-2003).
 
 Prior to starting Rabo India, he was the General Manager & Country Head: ANZ Grindlays' Investment Bank (ANZIB, from 1996-98). Mr. Kapoor spent 15 years at Bank of America (1980-1995), where he last headed the Bank's Wholesale Banking businesses and held several positions of increasing responsibility, including assignments in Asian countries. He was presented the Eagle Pin by the Chairman of Bank of America, in 1990, the highest professional recognition for consistent performance excellence in Bank of America, amongst several other enterprising achievements.
 
 Mr. Kapoor has recently become a Member of the Government of India's Board of Trade. This apex body consisting of top leadership from the Indian Industry is nominated by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. He has also been appointed as the Honorary Secretary of the Indian Banks' Association (IBA), and the Committee on Agro Business and Financial Inclusion, IBA, a Member of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), established by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of "Invest India", Member of the Sub-Group of the Taskforce on Funding for Infrastructure Creation, as part of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the President of the India-EU Chamber of Commerce in India, and the FICCI and CII Steering Committees, and Managing Committee of PHDCCI. He was the Chairman of CII's Banking Committee for the year 2005-06. Mr. Kapoor was appointed in 2002 as the Honorary Consul for Cyprus in Mumbai/ Maharashtra state by the Government of Cyprus. He is also an active member of Young President's Organisation (YPO), a leading global forum of business leaders. Mr. Kapoor holds a MBA degree from Rutgers' University in New Jersey, U.S.A. (1980), and a Bachelor's degree in Economics (Honours) from the University of Delhi (1977).

Late Mr. Ashok Kapur
was the Non Executive Chairman of the Bank (2004- 2008). He was an Associate of the Institute of Bankers, U.K.

Mr. Kapur was part of the banking industry since 1962 and was employed by Grindlays Bank in various capacities including General Manager, Institutional Banking and Managing Director, Grindlays Merchant Bank of Nigeria Limited. He also worked as Regional Manager (Executive Vice-President), ABN Amro Bank, Singapore, where he was involved with the geographical spread of the Asia/Australia branch network and the different business groups including commercial and investment banking. He was also the first Asian to be appointed Country Manager of ABN Amro Bank, India. Before being part of YES BANK, Mr. Kapur was the Managing Director of Rabo India, a new financial services company focused on corporate and structured finance for the Indian market in partnership with Rabobank, Netherlands (1998-2003).
